Tired of theatre "workshops" but no hands-on in an actual theatre? Imagine yourself working with directors, theatre professionals and putting your dreams in action with teens just like you who love theater! The Driftwood Players Teen Theatre Intensive is for emerging performers, ages 13-17, training you to be a real "player" in the world of theatre. Explore and enhance your individual talents through one-on-one coaching in scene study, vocal technique, movement, and overall presentation. Whether you are a seasoned performer or just getting started, program will elevate you to the next level. Experience ten full days of small group and individual work designed to challenge the performer and educate in all production elements, including design. The program includes professional headshots, resume development, monologue preparation, workshops with technical theatre professionals as well as a monologue Showcase with feed-back from a panel of professional directors.

In addition, all participants receive Membership to the Driftwood Players community, one complimentary ticket to all five Mainstage shows, discounts to Alternative Stage performances, opportunities to serve on steering committees, advanced information about upcoming events and special invitations to "members only" parties. The Driftwood Players Teen Intensive participants have priority in the Driftwood Apprentice (D.A.) program; an on-going opportunity to gain practical hands-on knowledge. Each student is guaranteed to work on at least one show during the 2008-2009 Season as an actor, designer or technician with a mentor in a supportive and positive environment. Join the only program in the greater Puget Sound area where students go beyond the workshop and into a working theatre.

Missoula Children's Theatre production of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

1 week, August 18-23

There will be no pre-registration or fee for participation (see below).

This performance residency in Edmonds is made possible by The Driftwood Players, gifting local youth the experience of live theatre! The week-long process begins with a group audition process and immediately submerges the kids in structured rehearsals, theatre etiquette, stage movement, and music, culminating with several performances for friends, family, and the community on Friday and Saturday. Participation is based on auditions and selection by the MCT staff of directors. There will be no pre-registration or fee for participation. Please come to the theatre at 950 Main Street on Monday, August 18th, 2008. The doors open at 12:30pm, auditions will begin at 1:00pm. Auditions are open (done in a large group) and last approximately 90 minutes.

Rehearsals will be held Monday 30 minutes after auditions end, and will continue in segments on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday between 10am and 3pm. Not all cast members will be called for every rehearsal segment. This residency is not an alternative to day-care.

All tickets for the performances are $20. This opportunity is open to all school aged children entering 1st to 12th grade in the fall of 2008 (aged 6 to 17). We will also need three production assistants aged 12 to 17.
