Teacher/Instructor Biographies
Eve Hammond, MIT is a theatre and language arts teacher with over 16 years
of experience in both professional and scholastic arenas. She launched
innovative quality theatre programs for multiple organizations such as Seattle
Children's Theatre, Studio East, Youth Theatre Northwest, and the Washington
Shakespeare Festival. She managed and worked as Artistic Director for college
and semi-professional theatres. She currently creates vigorous theatre school
theatre programs for grades K–12 as the Artistic Director for the Northshore
Networks Youth Theatre in the Northshore School District. She has a master's in
teaching and is a member of both the Educational Theatre Association and the
American Alliance for Theatre Educators.
Carissa Meisner Smit’s stage career began thirty years ago as a candy cane
in the ubiquitous Nutcracker Suite. Since then she has
performed as a dancer, actor, and singer in a wide variety of productions in
California and here in the Northwest, including appearances with Northwest
Savoyards, Civic Light Opera, and The Driftwood Players. Recent choreography
credits include Shoreline Community College’s Opera Workshops in 2006 and 2007, and
the DP’s The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.
She has also served as dance captain in local productions of Fiddler on the Roof,
High Society, The Baker’s Wife, and West Side Story.
Laura West has been an educator of
theatre arts, dance and music since 1999. She's been in WA for the past 6 years,
working with performing arts studio in Mukilteo and Mill Creek. Laura started a
youth theatre troupe that has been doing annual musicals since 2004. The group
consists of ages 8 through adult and they have performed with Historic Everett
Theatre and Driftwood Players. In addition to this group, she has taught piano,
voice, choir, drama, ballet, tap, jazz, creative movement, dance aerobics and
hip hop. She also ran Combat Workshops for youth through The Utah Shakespearean
Festival in Cedar City, UT. Laura is ecstatic and grateful to be a part of
Driftwood's education program and hopes to be a positive force in the community
for many years to come.
