The Driftwood Players

Welcome to The Driftwood Players

It all began over a cup of coffee in an Edmonds, Washington living room one day in 1957. A very keen and talented group of people wanted to form a theatre group...

For more than 40 years, The Driftwood Players have been a cultural asset to the City of Edmonds and surrounding communities by educating and entertaining audiences through their commitment to producing live, quality theatre.

From music and comedy to drama and mystery, The Driftwood Players are proud of their theatre and the plays they produce. Audience support continues to grow with each new season, allowing us to say "Curtain up, light the lights!"

Dear Friends,

Greetings! For half a century, the Driftwood Players has been offering Edmonds and all of Puget Sound high-quality theatrical and specialty productions. From our main stage plays and musicals, to our late night one-acts, to road acts, comedy, music, workshops, classes, training, and on and on, Driftwood Players strives to be the zenith of artistic and creative performance within this community. Most recently, our production of Minnesota Moon won the 2009 Kaleidoscope Festival. We have very exciting and ambitious plans for the future and that is the reason for this letter.

Like everyone, we are feeling the effects of the world financial crisis. This, compounded with the devastating cancellation of four sold-out shows during our Holiday season due to snow, has seriously crippled the financial health of the company.

At the Driftwood Players, we believe that crisis equals opportunity. Instead of cutting what should not be cut, we choose to invite, to include, to involve, to ask for what we need. Our needs are few, but essential:

WE NEED MONEY. We do. And we need it now. Our new goal is to create an endowment and reach independence and sustainability. Raising money will always be important, but eliminating the possibility of repeatedly falling into dire financial straights is our current focus. We will do this $5, $50, $500, $5000 dollars at a time.

WE NEED PATRONS. The Driftwood Players is one of the biggest bangs-for-your-buck in the area. Our productions are an excellent date night, family night, office function, girls/guys night out and are well attended but we want SOLD-OUT. A season ticket is under $100 for five shows. Add to that free parking, an easy commute for the entire north end, an intimate venue where every seat is a great seat, talented performers giving 100% every show - and you have a guaranteed winner every time. It also makes a great gift.

WE NEED INVOLVEMENT. The Driftwood Players put the “community” in community theatre. Our members commit to volunteer hours. Our volunteers usher, clean, build sets, work the box office, and are integral in all aspects of making the company run.

How can you help? Give. It feels great. And every bit counts.

At the bottom of this letter is the contact information for the Driftwood Players. Please consider a straight donation of money, ordering season tickets, and providing the company with your contact information so we may keep you in the loop about the exciting things we have planned for the rest of this season and the upcoming 2009-2010 season.

We are a Not for Profit 501-C3 organization (Tax ID# 91-6060943 for your accountant), so every dollar is tax-deductible. If you work for a company that matches contributions, please do us a kindness and complete the required paperwork so that we might benefit from the corporate generosity as well.

Thank you for your time and attention. A world devoid of the arts is a sorry one indeed. Thank you for helping to keep us focused on what we do best - vigilantly pursuing our artistic vision.

To make your tax-deductible donation by phone, please call 425-774-9600. To mail us a check, please address the envelope to Driftwood Players, P.O. Box 385 Edmonds, WA 98020. You can also Donate Online right now!
