The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940

by John Bishop
|
|
THE MUSICAL COMEDY MURDERS OF 1940 is not your typical murder mystery. Sure, the show starts off with a heinous murder by an unknown assailant. But then there are lots of hilarious jokes and funny one-liners. (And yes, there is a song.) Soon the guests arrive and you’ll discover this isn't your average party. All that and a sidekick who turns out to be a hero! This production is entertainment at its best. This show will keep you laughing and will make you smile all the way home.

Boise is the Paris of Idaho
by John C. Davenport
|
|
Self-centered Southern belle decides to worry about damn near everything ... tomorrow.
No, wait, that's "Gone With the Wind"...
Supreme Being creates stuff. Chaos ensues.
No, that's the Bible.
OK, "Boise Is the Paris of Idaho":
The Hammonds of 1930s Memphis maintain a proud tradition of dysfunctional Southern families. Uncle Hoo-ha, a train conductor, dreams of Boise as he tries to recover from a serious head injury while living with his mother and sister -- but they're not much help. The trio are among a motley cast of characters who become involved in Uncle Hoo-ha's "recovery." Or is he just getting crazier?
Directed by Doug Staley

by John Patrick Shanley
|
|
An inspired drama set in a Bronx Catholic school in 1964, where a strong-minded nun is faced with concerns about one of her male colleagues. Doubt is potent drama – passionate and engrossing. John Patrick Shanley, the Academy Award-winning author of Moonstruck, dramatizes issues straight from today’s headlines. The debate is set in 1964 but could not be more timely.
Directed by Nathan Jeffrey.

October 28-30, 2010 Thur, Fri, Sat @ 9:13pm
Adapted by Jeffrey Hatcher
|
|
"Man is, on the whole, less good than he imagines himself... Everyone carries a shadow, and the less it is embodied in the individual's conscious life, the blacker and denser it is."
So wrote psychoanalyst C.G. Jung, in 1938. Jeffrey Hatcher agrees. In his inventive retelling of Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic thriller, the transformations of Hyde deepen and intensify as the conflict of good vs. evil, civilization vs. savagery is played out to its devastating conclusion. Smart, violent, and intense, this version is suggested for adults.
Directed by Scott Francis.

A celebration of the pioneer spirit! In the early 1900’s, before there were networks, sponsors and regulating agencies, a broadcaster could be a one-man road-show radio station. One such traveling entrepreneur arrives in the Middle-of- Nowhere , USA and corrals a tale-spinning farmer named Davey. An unexpected broadcasting success, Davey’s boyhood adventures with the itinerant Poppy and the blind girl Frankie capture the heartland’s imagination and his popularity soars as he becomes The Voice of the Prairie – until the real Frankie hears his broadcast one day and the FCC threatens to shut him down. Back by popular demand! Scandal erupts at the North Pole when one of Santa's eight tiny reindeer accuses him of ungentlemanly conduct. As mass media descends upon the event, the other members of the team demand to have their say, and a horrific tale of corruption and perversion emerges, which seems to implicate everyone from the littlest elf to the tainted Saint himself. What’s interesting about watching a reality TV veteran, a washed up movie star, a fast food cashier and an accountant sit around a fast food joint? What if it was a hostage situation being shown live on the 10 o'clock news? Or possibly the world's deadliest reality show? In this fast-paced dark comedy, a criminal stunt by formerly famous has-beens goes violently and comically awry under the watchful eyes of the media, a lawyer-to-the-stars — and the audience.

Watch the hilarious Little Sisters of Hoboken display their divine talents in a zany benefit revue. In an effort to raise money for their fallen Sisters--unfortunate victims of a convent cooking accident--Mother Superior and her order of eccentric and endearing nuns show the lighter side of being Catholic. With riotous dance numbers, show-stopping songs and side-splitting wit, you'll swear the music and comedy of Nunsense was heaven-sent!

Stunning and hilarious wordplay characterizes this modern stage classic. As the Shakespearean tragedy Hamlet is turned on its ear, with multiple plot twists and sudden shifts of perspective, two hitherto minor characters are dragged along towards their inevitable destiny. Verbal japery and existential bewilderment at its best! Directed by Eric Lewis.
