The Driftwood Players are pleased to display the work of local artist Susie Wind throughout the performances of The Mousetrap. Susie has been painting since the late 1980s, completing a degree in Fine Art at the University of Utah in 1994. She also completed a Master’s degree in Art Therapy and Counseling Psychology at the College of Notre Dame in Belmont CA, in 1997.
Susie, an award-winning painter, has exhibited her oil and acrylic paintings in group and juried exhibitions locally and nationally, including the Women’s National Juried Competition. Her work presents us with scenes that are familiar and at the same time haunting. “I want to capture that concrete sense of loneliness that I feel in this culture that is constantly reinventing itself into obsolescence.” She has the ability to capture a solitary moment which seems to stand still. Wind creates a world of empty spaces that seem to be waiting, but have lost hope.
